aka 'The Professor Page'
This page will be disappearing after additional 'world coin' categories are added.
The Professor and Mary Ann were two of the best characters on Gilligan's Island, yet were somehow left out by the main theme song (at least in the first season). This is the 'Professor' page--for the random coins that don't fit the named collections. The 'Mary Ann' page shows the left out medals.

Loosely, not only is this the category for the 'leftovers', but it also is the so-called 'Box of Twenty'. That is a concept popularized (a bit) on the PCGS forums, as a theoretical box that holds twenty coins that may not have a theme but are the core of what you would want if you could only have 20 coins. With quality over quantity. Real life dictates that I don't have a 'Box of Twenty'--I'm too fond of my type sets and 'minor collections'. But...there are a few coins that aren't 'collections' per se, but I can't seem to part with. So here are some of what would be in my box... if I had one.
Commemorating 1,000 years of the Althing, one of the oldest legislative bodies in the world. A 5 and 2 Kronur denomination were also minted.
Political parties with 5% of the electoral vote have seats. The Althing is the first government body to have officially elected members of the Pirate Party. Maybe having some elected Libertarians or Green Party candidates someday isn't so far fetched after all. |
