Showa 39 (1964), NGC MS-64. This 100 yen, plus the 1000 yen below, were issued to commemorate the Tokyo Olympics.
Showa 39 (1964), NGC MS-68. The 1000 yen. An upgraded photo will happen at some point--the blast white surfaces/design details have been difficult so far.
Showa 50 (1975), NGC MS-66. Okinawa Expo. Smaller denomination, base metal.
Heisei 2 (1990), NGC PF-70. Enthronement of the Emperor. Gold (1.00), weight 30 grams, diameter 33 mm. Mintage 2,000,000 and a denomination of 100,00 yen. A stunning piece of gold in hand, with a glorious Hoo bird (phoenix) on the obverse and the Chrysanthemum crest on the reverse (a recurring theme for the commemoratives honoring the Emperor).
The following is a three coin set "the Wedding of His Imperial Highness The Crown Prince" in denominations of 500 yen (cupronickel), 5000 yen 15 grams silver) and 50,000 yen (18 grams 1.0 fine gold). They originally would have been in a boxed set, but these three are in NGC slabs.
Heisei 5 (1993), NGC PF-70
Heisei 5 (1993), NGC PF-70
Heisei 5 (1993), NGC PF-69
Heisei 11 (1999). Raw.
Issued to commemorate the 10th year of the reign of the current Emperor. The box is fairly typical, a nice cardboard box with design, a suede-like textured box (lavender in this case) and the coin contained within a plastic capsule with security holograms. Included is an insert describing the coin and mintages. Of the overall mintage, specific numbers are designated for export vs. for the domestic market. The exported ones arrive in outer boxes stating they are not to be re-imported. |
